Austrade India & Pakistan has been working been working jointly with teams in the UAE, China and SE Asia on a new project. Austrade has a working group of countries associated with the One Belt One Road initiative and is throwing out the net to Australian companies in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. They believe that there are a number of companies servicing South Asia in the UAE, and there may be interest from our members.
Australia’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Margaret Adamson, Tahir Mahmood from Karachi and Mark Morley, Trade Commissioner India & Pakistan will be traveling to Dubai (8 October 2018) and Abu Dhabi (9 October 2018) to discuss infrastructure development in Pakistan, particularly the opportunities present as part of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Specifically, Pakistan will be developing large infrastructure projects in energy (power generation through coal, wind and solar), roads, railroads and special economic zones for setting up new industries on the new road linking Gwadar port with China. Gwadar now has an operating seaport and will have an international airport also. This will mean a major change in the requirements of utilities for Gwadar. As the area does not have rainfall, it is likely to depend on water through desalination, a technology which is well known to Australia.
They will be delivering a free webinar on 19 September at 10 am. To register visit www.austrade.gov.au/pakinfra
They will also be seeking B2B meetings in Dubai and Abu Dhabi on October 8 & 9 with you, and with your clients, and pulling together a roundtable with interested parties to explore opportunities in Pakistan in conjunction with Austrade Dubai. We hope to build an inbound mission on the back of the visit to the UAE to Karachi and Islamabad. Please do get in touch with your interest by emailing Mark Morley email@example.com or +91 98 180 08408
South Asia will be offering a two day extension program at the end of Gulfood to Sri Lanka, India or Pakistan targeted at different food and beverage categories, and Austrade are keen to get support in recruiting respective companies to the mission.
