Voting in the 2016 Federal Election

VOTING IN THE 2016 AUSTRALIAN FEDERAL ELECTION

Please check if you are enrolled to vote in this election by visiting the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) website

If you are not enrolled, it is now too late to enrol for this election.

If you are enrolled to vote in this election, but will be overseas on Election Day, you will be able to vote in the UAE:

1. by applying online for a postal vote; or
2. by attending the Australian Embassy in Abu Dhabi or Australian Consulate-General in Dubai between 20 June and 30 June to cast an early vote.

You can apply for a postal vote online on the AEC website and the voting papers will be mailed to you from the AEC in Australia. Your application for a postal vote must be received by the AEC by 29 June 2016.

The Australian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Australian Consulate-General in Dubai will be open for in-person early voting from Monday 20th June until Thursday 30 June 2016 as per the schedule below.

Please note that we will NOT be open for voting on 2 July (Election Day in Australia).

Australian Embassy Abu Dhabi:

  • Monday 20 June to Thursday 23 June – 8.30am to 4pm
  • Friday 24 and Saturday 25 June – CLOSED
  • Sunday 26 June to Thursday 30 June – 8.30am to 4pm
  • Friday 1 and Saturday 2 July – CLOSED

 

Australian Consulate-General, Dubai:

  • Monday 20 June to Thursday 23 June – 12.30pm to 4pm
  • Friday 24 and Saturday 25 June – CLOSED
  • Sunday 26 June to Wednesday 29 June – 12.30pm to 4pm
  • Thursday 30 June – 8am to 4pm
  • Friday 1 and Saturday 2 July – CLOSED

 

In order to be granted access to our offices you will need to bring your current government issued photo identification (Australian passport, driving licence or UAE ID).
