Welcome Back to Business
It has been a busy start to the year for AusBG. We have held 13 events engaging over 2031 members and guests. Look inside the newsletter to see the coverage on some of our main events including the ANZAC Day Ball with over 200 people in attendance. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Brigadier Paul Nothard AM CSC Deputy Commander JTF633 for his address and also a big thank you to our sponsors for the night; Etihad Airways, the Victorian State Government, Spinneys, and the Rosewood Abu Dhabi. We also feature below our recent Australian Story at the Ambassador’s residence in which we interviewed two AusBG 50 club members Aladin Niazmand, TAHPI and Kate Midttun, Acorn Strategy. They spoke of their experiences and lessons in growing their companies from the start in the UAE. Are you an Australian story in the Capital? We would love to hear from you and potentially have you at a future Australian Story event, contact us here firstname.lastname@example.org
A warm welcome to our AusBG Board for 2018, see the individuals who are representing the Australian Abu Dhabi business community for 2018. Do you have an idea for an event or suggestion? Please do not hesitate to reach out to a board member or contact us directly to pass on your feedback. email@example.com
Ramadan Kareem to all of you, it is not just a time of fasting it is a time for reflection, purification and can be a very social time. AusBG are hosting two Iftars during this special month, our first was a Joint Iftar with the Australian Embassy with H.E. Arthur Spyrou on the 23rd of May, and the second is a joint business group Iftar on the 6th of June. There are a few spots remaining so please contact us and we will try our best to accommodate you.
The UAE’s recent announcement allowing full foreign company ownership and granting of 10-year visas to select investors and professionals is a major catalyst for economic diversification and growth for the country. These changes will foster longer-term foreign investment with benefits for innovators and business leaders and underline the UAE’s commitment to boost growth in non-oil sectors.
